I have a Phil & Ted's cocoon -- can I machine wash it or do I just sponge it clean? thnx!?

Hi! Read the tag attached to it. It will say surface clean only if it can't be put in a washing machine.

I just googled it and I think you should be able to put it in the washing machine. Just do it on hand wash or gentle cycle in cold water. I wouldn't put it in the dryer and think you should just let it air dry on top of the washer or set it out on a clothesline in the sun for a few hours and it should be clean as new.

Anytime something has a lot of batting or cotton type filling, its not always a good idea to put it in the machine. But this carrier looks like it won't hurt to run it on the softest cycle and the fabric of it looks like it will dry quickly.

What can i put in the washing machine to get my white shoes clean without ruining them?

i bought a pair of new balances and i got them muddy. what can i put in the washing machine to clean them without ruining them....they are white and pink(all pink on the inside)....here is what they look like(when clean)

http://www.clothingwire.com/brandlogos/newbalance5.jpgWhat can i put in the washing machine to get my white shoes clean without ruining them?
The easiest way to clean the shoes is just let the mud dry and then gently brush it off. If there is still a bit left, and the shoe does not shine as new, then washing machine will do the job even without any additional detergent. Please, never throw your muddy shoes right into the washing machine. Chunks of mud may contain grains of sand even small stones which can damage your washing machine. Use the brush first, then washing machine. If you don't want to bother with either of these cleaning processes and you don't live in a desert, you can again clean your shoes very efficiently by running in the rain. What can i put in the washing machine to get my white shoes clean without ruining them?
How to Clean Smelly New Balance Shoes

1Spray smelly New Balance shoes with a hose. Use a high pressure stream from the sprayer nozzle inside and out.

Step 2Mix and test a cleaning solution. Pour a 1/2 gallon of water into a bucket and add 1/4 cup of ammonia. Wet the corner of a cleaning cloth with the solution and use it to wet a small portion of any fabric on one shoe to make sure it is colorfast. Most running shoes are man-made materials that are colorfast, but some have suede trim that is vulnerable to color bleeding. Mix and test a solution with less ammonia if bleeding occurs.

Step 3Soak New Balance shoes in the ammonia solution. Remove the shoe laces and drop them into the bucket. Submerge the stinking athletic shoes completely in the bucket and let soak for 45 minutes.

Step 4Scrub shoes inside and out. Run a scrub brush or toothbrush over the outside surfaces and trim. Wet a cleaning cloth with the ammonia solution and rub it around the inside of the shoes.

Step 5Rinse and dry thoroughly. Rinse with the sprayer of the hose. Keep rinsing until the water running off the shoes is clear. Shake off all excess water and leave the New Balance shoes in a cool dry place for 24 hours.

Edit: I wouldn't recommend using Oxy Clean at all. I've heard way too many horror stories about it.

Do you wash a load everyday, or wait until you have no clean underwear??

I wash a load everyday - I'm talking about clothes of course!!Do you wash a load everyday, or wait until you have no clean underwear??
Wash a load everyday...Do you wash a load everyday, or wait until you have no clean underwear??
I wash laundry 2 or 3 times a week. I never run out of underwear because I have about 30 of them.
Saturdays my washday.
i wash every 2 days
i wait
You must have a lot of dirty underwear to wash a load of it everyday. Is it an overactive bladder problem...lol
I do laundry twice a week
I wash my clothes once every week.
I wash laundry twice a week.
Neither. I have a three bins for clothes, one for jeans, one for colors, and one for whites. I wash each one when it gets full, no matter what is in it. I have enough clothes to not run out of anything before filling the basket.
my mother lives with us and she does at least one load a day
once a week
not everyday, but not at the last minute
LMAO! If you asked my hubby he would say when he is out of undies but I do mine and the kids more often lol.
I wash a load or two every OTHER day. I can pretty much stay on top of it that way. =)
2 or 3 times a week
never wash them
2 loads a day on average....
I wait until I have no clean jeans and then do a load or two
i wash once a week, i have enough clean underwear for three weeks.
I usually wait until I need clean undies and then I only pick the stuff I want to wear that week and leave the rest in a pile on the floor.

  • Will my face be clean even with no face wash products.?

how would my face be like if i just washed my face with just water, no soap or anything.

I also drink at least 10 cups of water a day.

    so my questions are

    1) is it ok to wash face with only water?

    2) will there be more or less acne if i use a face wash (because my skin gets dry sometimes)

    3) will my skin be balanced in oil (face wash takes away lots of oil)

    4) does water clean your face at all?... because my face fills the SAME if i wash with water. Will my face be clean even with no face wash products.?
Water is a solvent, so my answer would be yes. Especially if you use the face wash three step formula.

Hot/cold to open pores, warm water to wash away dirt and oils, cold water to close clean pores.

If your skin tends to get dry in winter, follow cleansing with a moisturizer while skin is still moist.

In Joy! Will my face be clean even with no face wash products.?
if your skin is good and healthy, you're doing fine.

look for face washes without oil - don't worry, they're not hard to find.

it will be advertised right on the label.

if your skin gets dry, use a face lotion! not hand lotion, because it is thicker and will more likely clog up the pores on your face. find a good quality face lotion, such as Olay.

water cleans your face, but not very well.

soap is required to break up the oils and dirt that cause pimples.

Is it okay to use dish-washing liquid to clean my guinea pigs' cages?

It isn't the best thing to use (a 50/50 mix of vinegar and water is often a better cleaner and disinfectant). However you can, just make sure you only use a little and thoroughly wash out the cages so there is no soap residue left.Is it okay to use dish-washing liquid to clean my guinea pigs' cages?
i always do and if you wash it off well it is fine, it also smells nice and clean. Is it okay to use dish-washing liquid to clean my guinea pigs' cages?
yea its fine you just have to wash it thrulie

I bought a used washing machine? what is the best way to clean it?

I t was pretty dirty inside and out, (I bought it on the advice of a friend sight unseen and know I am stuck with it) and I wanted to know what can be used to clean the inside.

ThanksI bought a used washing machine? what is the best way to clean it?
Pour in one cup of bleach and wash on the longest, hottest cycle that the machine has. That will take care of any germs and beasties that may be inside. As far as cleaning the outside, any good household cleaner will do a good job. Try Mr. Clean, Pine Sol, Lestoil, etc. If after you run the bleach cycle through and the inside of the washer is still dirty. Pour the recommended amount of Lestoil inside of the machine and again wash in the longest, hottest cycle. Lestoil is a good grease and grim cutter. I use it to pre-spot my families really stained clothing and he works wonders.I bought a used washing machine? what is the best way to clean it?
I would wash it down with warm water %26amp; a disinfecting detergent on the outside, then run it through a load of soap, hot water %26amp; bleach to clean out the inside. And wipe down any visible surfaces inside that you can reach.
Add 1 cup of white vinegar into your washing machine as it fills using hot water.

Let machine go through an entire wash and rinse cycle.

Add 1 cup of Borax into your washer as it fills with water. Wait for the agitator to start turning so the borax dissolves.

Let it soak for about 20-30 minutes after agitating thoroughly,to remove any previous remaining odors.

Add detergent that has a fragrance so that your washing machine smells nice and clean.Hope I helped you, cheers!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
use one cup of vinegar and lemon juice it should do the trick

sorry use the same amount of lemon juice too
fill the tub with hot water, then pour in 2 cups of muratic acid (they clean bricks with it). It will break up the deposits. DO NOT POUR IN THE ACID FIRST!!
Start washing nothing. That'll clean the inside.
fill the washer with water and add a cup of bleach to the water.let it go through the whole cycle until done.As for the outside use bleach and little dishwashing liquid to a pail of fairly warm water and scrub with a cloth or sponge. Then rinse off with fresh clean water. Will be sparkling clean and disinfected too.
will would suggest run your machine on the hottest wash with some white wine vinegar, and then another run with either bleach or what I use is Milton Solution or any other Sterilizing solution used to sterilize baby麓s bottles this way it麓s sure to be clean and won麓t damage your machine
    I agree with Josie

They should be cleaned manually with a brush and sponge and detergentMy husband puts his gym shower shoes in the washing machine. What is best method to clean them?
    He's a wise man.

That is the best and easiest way.
You can wash them in the washer, BUT, only thru the wash cycle. DO NOT let them spin. Take them out rinse in the sink and let them air dry.

Does anyone know how to clean under the rim of a tip loading washing machine of the lint that collects there?

I have lifting up on it, but it does not budge. Any ideas?Does anyone know how to clean under the rim of a tip loading washing machine of the lint that collects there?
I had that problem and i used a bottle brush to scrub it out and then flushed it all off with waterDoes anyone know how to clean under the rim of a tip loading washing machine of the lint that collects there?
Not exactly sure which part you're talking about, but short of taking it apart, maybe try a vacuum cleaner with a long narrow (corner) extension or a computer duster (air spray).
My whole top lifts up/tilts ... and I can whip it down......

Some however you have to remove some screws to get it off...

OR%26gt;.. you can just connect a garden hose to your wash tub faucet (assuming it is threaded) and then spray it off... that works too...

Try the hose thing... and then the next time you have a handy fixit type person over ask them to show you how to get the top off...

Whats the easiest way to clean a rug that wont fit in the washing machine?

I find it funny that you probably tried fitting it in the washing machine... drycleaners usually work!!! Dee De Dee...Whats the easiest way to clean a rug that wont fit in the washing machine?
if you have a steam wallpaper stripper you can use that along with the spray carpet cleaner, spray carpet then use the steam to penetrate the carpet and gently scrub, i do my rug this way and it looks like new everytime plus it dont take long to dryWhats the easiest way to clean a rug that wont fit in the washing machine?
    Wait ! Don't wash it.

Just dry it under the sun. Hit it to remove the dust.

Any stains on it, just use the carpet cleaner.
go to a laundry mat and use a larger washing machine that can accommodate the size of rug....i do that every so often with bedding such as large comforters too...
you can wash it in the bath, that's what I did. Or just take it to a drycleaners.
take it the local laundrette they always have big machines in there you can even get a king size quilt in some of them so a mats going to fit
Buy some foaming carpet cleaner.(in a can), spray the rug, go over it with a damp mop, let it dry then vacuum...
I swear by 1001, it's brill' though you have to do it by hand!
Carpet shampoo, I think you apply it then let it dry and then vacume it up.
    DRY CLEAN
hos pipe to wet then scrub with carpet shampoo and rinse

    wil i ruin it

what should i doCan i hand wash this if it says dry clean only (link)?
you can hand wash it in cold water with a dishwashing soap, pat dry with a towel and hang over a towel on your shower rod...whatever you do-do not put it in the dryer. Can i hand wash this if it says dry clean only (link)?
I wouldn't hand wash it. If it were a solid color I'd say go for it. Sometimes the reason items say dry clean only is because colors don't bleed when dry cleaned. Since you are working with black and white the black might run when it is wet. If you really like it I would just take it and have it dry cleaned.
it's only 14% wool, wash it my hand in woolite and hang to dry do not not not put it in the dryer it would shrink up. the other thing you could do is use in the laundry section at walmart called dryell....yes it goes in the dryer but it does not get wet. it's like drycleaning at home and is alot cheaper and you can use it more than once and refills are cheap.

I got Comet bleach cleaner on my jeans. What will happen when I wash it?

I accidentally dumped a lot of comet on my dark blue jeans. I wiped it off using a dry paper towel. It didn't stain, but what will happen when I wash my jeans in a day or two? Am I going to have bleach spots on my jeans?I got Comet bleach cleaner on my jeans. What will happen when I wash it?
Get a vacume cleaner with a crevice attachment on it and vacume the hell out of that spot ...inside and outside....take it to the sink and rum cold water over it for a few minutes and then launder as usual. Good Luck!I got Comet bleach cleaner on my jeans. What will happen when I wash it?
    You could.

What would you do if you opened your washing machine and found 300 fluffy, very clean hamsters inside it?

Oops must have washed them with my sheets (see your other hamster q) and then they bred somehow in the wash (?) lolWhat would you do if you opened your washing machine and found 300 fluffy, very clean hamsters inside it?
They might be clean but they still need to be dried so I guess I would put them in the dryer. If they can survive the washer then the dryer shouldn't make them bat a furry little eyelid.

They sure are multiplying fast tho =)What would you do if you opened your washing machine and found 300 fluffy, very clean hamsters inside it?
lol what was the name of that movie where the furry critters multiplied when you add water--hmmmm-still thinking---grimlins ?
Call the vet and then once they're okay, I keep two of them.
Get rid of the damned thing...
    call PETA
i would wake up and never drink again!!

How to clean mildew off of liner of front loading washing machines?

I had the same problem on mine. I just soaked a rag with bleach and laid it across the mildew, then after a while, it wiped off easily. How to clean mildew off of liner of front loading washing machines?
I forget what brand our is but it has a rubber gasket around the door that has DEEP folds and the water collects in there. We take either a sponge or microfiber cloth and soak up the water when the laundry is done then we leave the door standing open until everything is completely dried out.

Use a diluted water/ bleach solution ( 10:1 ) for mildew that has already formed. Don't make it much stronger. The bleach might affect the rubber. How to clean mildew off of liner of front loading washing machines?
First, try to check online at the manufacturer's website for tips on that. It is a common problem.

In the meantime, to keep the mildew from forming, keep the door the machine open between uses.

Bought pants at express & wore them today, Dry Clean Only! 78% rayon 19% nylon 3% spandes. Can I wash them?

I have hand washed pants from the Express before that said dry clean only. Just make sure that you wash them alone in cold water and hang them to dry. The tag probably says dry clean only because it is the best method to clean the fabric without damaging the look of the pants. If you don't want to take any risks, I would take it to the cleaners. If anything, I would start by hand washing a small square of the pants in a less noticeable area. If it dries without any noticeable change in the fabric, it will be okay to hand wash the entire pants. I would not risk putting it in a washing machine, even on a gentle cycle.Bought pants at express %26amp; wore them today, Dry Clean Only! 78% rayon 19% nylon 3% spandes. Can I wash them?
hand wash them in cold water id rather just take them to the cleaners but u can hand wash and hang to dryBought pants at express %26amp; wore them today, Dry Clean Only! 78% rayon 19% nylon 3% spandes. Can I wash them?
    typically, when it says ';dry clean only';

    you can, dry clean only.

Why do we wash BATH towels? Aren't we clean when we use them? If not?

You have never lived with 5 kids before, We are lucky if they use soap. Why do we wash BATH towels? Aren't we clean when we use them? If not?
Because they get wet, therefore, humid and humidity stinks! Why do we wash BATH towels? Aren't we clean when we use them? If not?
    hehehe......never really thought about it..
Whenever a person dries off with a towel, dead skin cells and oil are captured in the fibres of the towel. Hence the towel will get filthy and eventually need to be washed.
u have run out decent questions!
they are the biggest and work best when coming out from the tub after you've taken a bath.

Baths leave a film on you, better to shower afterwards.

No we are not clean after a bath. We are wet and wet things grow mold.
if you feel that way then don't wash yours
because you cant remove all bacteria from you. you would die, and you need to wash them before they get out of hand. ever wiped your butt and not got it all? $hit happens!

    hahahahahahahahahaha.
Because you wipe your butt on it. (lol)

Please mold grows with moisture and the smell is impossible to get out unless you wash them sometime.
a damp towel will eventually become mildew(y) and won't smell the same after some time... like when the towel first comes out of the laundry...smells good.
Using them will eventually make them smell 'stale', they then need to be freshened.
not quite!when we bathe all the germs does get off of our skin.have you ever noticed that when we bathe and wipe our skin really hard with the towel you see dirt.TIP:don't use a bathe towel to long.
Oil and sweat get on them.

Moist towels are also a good place for fungus, mold, and mildew to grow.
There is actually residual dead skin on you that the bath towel scrubs off when you dry. Also there may be left over soap or other elements that are in the water.
they will smeel awful if we will not wash them
Truth is no matter how hard we clean we still have dead skin cells on our body. Even after a shower or bath. We are never as clean as we think we are.

When you dry off you are trapping dead skin cells into the towel.
Dead skin from getting out of the shower is on them. I bleach my towels every single time.
You asked this yesterday and it wasn't that interesting then, surely you can come up with SOMETHING better.
And how do you know if a brown towel is really clean?
you wash them because they get wet. after a while of being wet and drying and getting wet and drying again they get stale. and a stale towel is just icky to use. thats why we wash them, to clean them of the dried water residue and to refresh them!
because they are wet and damp and after a couple uses staying in a moist place can cause the growth of mold and other bacteriums . This can be deemed unsanitary %26amp; cause a funky odor in the bathroom . and what the crap does this have to do with marriage and divorce ?
Because if we don't wash them they get mold and mildew from the constant wetting and drying. DUH
dont wash your and let others do theirs any problems
No one is 100% clean. Besides...

Sometimes, when the shower/bath is hot, you sweat right after getting off, and do you know where all that goes? Your towel.

And even if you don't sweat, your towel still absorbs the water on your body, and water + a nice cozy towel + hanging in a bathroom for a while = a nice mouldy towel. YUMMY!

But if you choose not to wash it.. that's your own liking, eh?
Yes but after we use them they get wet and then that causes them to be dirty. Plus the dead skin on your body and the oils are now on the towel.........
Because they are wet after we use them and little bacteria from the air come and adhere to the moist towel while it is drying. Do you fold it up after it dries from your using it? Or do you hang it on a hook in the bathroom? More bacteria from the air comes and sticks to it...including microscopic particles that may pop up out of toilet when you flush it (if you don't put the top down).

I often reuse a towel maybe once. But, in my house with 4 cats, I do wash my towels.
they accumulate the oils and skin particles we loosen when we take a shower. and after a time, they accumulate mold and mildew from the air, even the cleanest ones.
remove all the dead skin etc, and can you be sure you are 100% clean, I doubt it, just a lot cleaner than before, since you removed the dirty dead skin from your body.

Since the towel now has dead skin in it, it won't be clean for next time.
Just take a whiff at it after about a week or so and figure it out for yourself.

A good face wash that keeps your skin clean all day?

I need a good cleanser that keeps my skin clean all day. Something that doesnt give me breakouts(my skin is prone acne) and something that doesnt overdry.

When I was my face, I use regular soap. And after I wash my face, its skiny, soft, and clean. But during the day, my face looks dirty. My nose looks hard...like it looks like the oil has dried on my nose. You know when a tear falls from your eye and when it dries, it gets crusty and kind hard, thats what my nose looks like, and feels dirty. And my face looks kinda dry and feels like it after awhile. I cant use a mosturizer because no matter what, oil-free or not, my face breaks out and gets oily.

Is there a cleanser out there for me?

I have neutrogena moring burst. I've never tried it ever since I bought it. Is this a good cleanser? Or should I get something else?A good face wash that keeps your skin clean all day?
What I do for my oily skin is the Artistry Balancing Skin Care System which is made for oily skin. It is made with natural ingredients and no animal testing which I like. I clean my face in the morning and right before I go to bed with this system and use the pore cleaning masque to help control oil a few times a week. The system comes with a cleanser, toner and lotion. The cleanser bonds to the oils and removes the oils, the toner tones your skin and the lotion re-hydrates your skin. Go to Arcameda.com and type in the search box balancing and/or masque for details on the product and how to get it. Cleaning my face twice a day keeps my face from being oily throughout the day. I also don't get acne very often. Also, never use soap on your face. It strip essential minerals from your face and does not re-hydrate your face properly which leads to aging faster. You need to use the right tool for the job or you could destroy what you are using the tool on. Hope all is well.A good face wash that keeps your skin clean all day?
    biore works great proactive too

just a thought hihiWhy do we wash our towels, if when we use them it's because we're clean ?
have you ever forgotten to take your wet clothes out of the washer and put them in the dryer, for like a day or two?

well if so, you know that smell it has when it's wet for those few days,...thats the smell I try to avoid...thats why I have to clean my towels after like having used them twice

lolWhy do we wash our towels, if when we use them it's because we're clean ?
because when you use it and then hang it up somewhere and let it air dry, it doesn't smell good anymore. when you get out of the shower you want to dry off with something that smells good, right?????
b/c wet towels get mildew and stink!!
I don't know. Bacteria and mildew are turnoffs for me. You must be related to my old roommate. ;)
why would you use the same towel twice? once you rubbed it aganist your *** %26amp; ***** to dry ? then dry your face %26amp; body off again without washing the towel . eweeeeeeeeeeee !!!!
Because it gets wet and stinky and hey....
If you didnt clean yourself enough then your towel gets dirty!
well, i use my towels twice before i wash them. but i think you've got a valid point there.
Because when everyone is done with them,

They throw them on the floor
MOLD and u must be hihi
    wet absorbs smells of must
    Haha because. OKAY
    to dry off :P

~*~*~*~from the girl who changes her bf as often as she changes her clothes*~*~*~*~
Let me think about that one. Very good question though. :)
You must not be drying off all of the same places that I am.
Because we are not perfectly clean, there's still plenty of dirt and germs that get on the towels. Plus if we didn't wash them, they would eventually get moldy and wouldn't be nice and fresh and clean.
Because sometimes I blow my nose on them when I can't find any tissues.
To get rid of all skid marks!
Coz after a shower or bath, your dead skin has been loosened %26amp; when you dry yourself, that dead skin is transferred to the towel !!!!!
Good point. I wash my towel because after it dries up after you dry yourself in it and do this for many days, then it will start to smell.

After you take a bath you're clean but wet, so u dry yourself with a towel. Why do you have to wash the towel?

thats a very good question. but i think the reason is because when u leave the towel to dry it collects bacteria and thats not healthy. After you take a bath you're clean but wet, so u dry yourself with a towel. Why do you have to wash the towel?
skin flakes, hair, odour. And wet things also tend to go moldy. After you take a bath you're clean but wet, so u dry yourself with a towel. Why do you have to wash the towel?
    Skin flakes.
The dampness of the towel, if not dried properly. produces a stink because bacteria multiplies in that conditions. Also to keep the towels fresh and clean it is advisable to use wash towels or use towels which are properly dried in direct sunlight!

However even towels that are dried have to be washed once in a while preferably with a disinfectant.
BECAUSE ITS NASTY IF YOU DON'T. THINK ABOUT ALL THE GERMS THAT TOWEL WILL COLLECT. AND THE SKIN THAT WILL BE ALL FLAKY. AND THE WORST MILDEW, AND SMELLS. GROSS. HOWEVER I DON'T WASH MINE UNTIL THE SECOND TIME I USE IT. JUST MAKE SURE YOU HANG YOUR TOWEL PROPERLY NOT TOUCHING ANYONE ELSE'S TOWEL AND THAT IT DOESN'T HIT THE FLOOR. SHOOT YOU MIGHT WANT TO TRY MAYBE USING A HAIR DRYER TO TRY THE TOWEL THAT WAY AT LEAST NO MILDEW WILL SET IN

There is no drain ';pipe';. The water goes through the pump and out the discharge hose that runs up the back of the machine and into the houses drainline behind it.

How can I get my sons white rugby shorts clean? I have tried soaking them with Vanish and then washing them.?

You should be able to restore your clothes to white (and not damage the fibres of the fabric) by soaking them them in lukewarm water and color safe or oxygen bleach for 24 hours, then rinse them with vinegar and water. Use one tablespoon of vinegar to one quart of water. After treating them overnight, wash them in hot water with chlorine bleach added. This should refresh them to their original white state. If possible, dry them in the sun. :)How can I get my sons white rugby shorts clean? I have tried soaking them with Vanish and then washing them.?
Try colour run removerHow can I get my sons white rugby shorts clean? I have tried soaking them with Vanish and then washing them.?
In the USA, VANISH is a toilet bowl cleaner. Try soaking them in vinegar to remove the grass stains. A good scrub with old fashioned bar laundry soap may do the trick here also.
First if there is any stains on them get the stains out by using this method...Put lemon juice on the stain and then sprinkle cream of tartar onto the top of the juice. Pat it in with your finger and let it sit on the stain until the stain is gone. The citric acid will take the stain right away. Some stains are tougher than others, but 15-30 minutes should work just find.

Lemon juice contains ascorbic acid (vitamin C). Ascorbic acid is an active reducing agent (as opposed to an oxidizing agent.

Then wash the shorts with this method...

Mix 1/2 cup lemon juice (or use sliced lemons) and one gallon of really hot water together . Soak the clothes that need bleaching. Do not use this trick on silk. But, this is perfect for white socks and underwear—even white polyester shirts. This can sit out from an hour to overnight, depending on how badly the clothing needs bleaching. Once they soak, remove the clothing from the mix and pour the mix into the washing machine and wash as usual. You can't over-bleach using lemon juice.

Check in your local Yellow Pages. Many professional carpet cleaners will also clean furniture, such as couches.

    Good luck!
Carpet cleaning company. I recommend those that use dry cleaning rather than spray or stream. After all you may want to enjoy your clean couches sooner rather than later. With wet cleaning it will take time to dry them. Chem Dry is a company that does offer that type of service.;... I am not sure if they are in your area but I am sure somebody offers same type of service.

    Good Luck to you!

How do I clean my foam mattress pad? It needs to be washed or something!?

1.Put mattress pad in the tub filled with warm, soapy water.

Stand in the tub; walk on the mattress pad for 2-3 minutes.

    Drain the tub.

Run the tub full of rinse water.

Walk on the pad again for a few minutes to rinse out soap.

    Drain the tub.

Run the tub full of rinse water for the last time.

    Walk on the pad again.

Drain the tub for a long time.

Walk on the pad again to squeeze out the water.

Roll up the pad in the tub, stepping on it to squeeze out the water.

Put the pad in a laundry basket.

Haul it outside and hang on the clothesline, or across 2 lawn chair backs. Let dry for a couple days in the sun and wind.

When pad is dry, it will be light and clean.

    2. If pad is small enough, you can put it in the washer, as long as it is in good shape: not torn, or disintegrating.

    Put pad in washer.

Add liquid detergent and warm water.

Do not agitate; just let it soak for 15 minutes.

Run the spin cycle for a couple of minutes only, to remove water.

Remove pad; dry outside on line, etc.How do I clean my foam mattress pad? It needs to be washed or something!?
You can't. If you do it will mold on the inside because the foam will trap the liquid inside and steam will melt it. I put a waterproof mattress pad over mine so it wouldn't get nasty.

  • I just bought a Dry-Cleaning,Laundry and Wash and Fold business.?

Which one of the follwing business set-ups would be the best to start with and give the greatest tax advantages. LLC. Corporation or a Sole Proprietor.I just bought a Dry-Cleaning,Laundry and Wash and Fold business.?
This is one for a tax professional (not yahoo answers!) good luck!I just bought a Dry-Cleaning,Laundry and Wash and Fold business.?
Do consult your tax man or an attorney because laws vary from state to state. But, in general, I will try to answer your question. For the cost of some professional advise, you could save yourself a world of headaches and a ton of money in the end.

An LLC sounds beneficial for your type of business because there will be customers coming and going in your establishment frequently every day. With water and soap spills on the floor, there is a great possibility of a slip and fall lawsuit. An LLC will protect your assets in the event of a lawsuit.

Corporations are heavily taxed in my state. Check yours.

Being a Sole Proprietor can be a good thing because you can waive unemployment compensation for yourself, saving overhead costs. And, you can draw a check from the business and then pay the taxes quarterly instead of deducting them out of your paycheck weekly. You will have to be disciplined and save for the taxes in that case. The disadvantages of being a Sole Proprietor is that you are not protected from personal law suits -- people can go after your house, your car, your bank account and so forth.

You have to differentiate between ';clean'; and ';sanitary';. Cleaning is an action that is designed to remove soil, and chemical residues - protien, carbohydrates or fats/oils. Cleaning is not sanitation. Sanitation is an action taken specifically to kill microorganisms. Sanitation cannot take place without cleaning. Things can be clean without being sanitary. As far as microorganisms on your hand are concerned, normal flora is healthy to have - although bathing to control populations is well appreciated. It's those contaminants you pick up from the environment that you have to be concerned about.
No. Your earthling body is always engulfed in microorganisms.

Clean and Clear Advantage 3-in-1 foaming acne wash any good?

I'm 13 and going to high school this year and I have a bit of pimples not many.

    (on my forehead and cheeks)

I bought a Clean and Clear Advantage 3-in-1 foaming acne wash

Will it make me break out even more?

Will it dry out my skin.

    My skins is not oily.

    Its this:

http://www.shopcleanandclear.com/product_detail.asp?T1=CNC+102580%26amp;.Clean and Clear Advantage 3-in-1 foaming acne wash any good?
It's a good cleanser, I like how it foams. It cleans very nicely, but remember to moisturize afterwards with a moisturizer meant for your skin. The moisturizer from that line will be good.

If yoou don't moisturize, your skin will produce more oils because cleansers dry out the skin, and you will get more pimples.

Soap and bleach is actually better it helps take the stains out.
Ha I hoep you din't wash it it water and soap?because you can ruin it, take it to dryclean, ro do dryclean at home.
Nooooooooooooooo!!!!!!!!! Don't do it! Suede hates water!!! Take it to the cleaners! Didn't you see the episode of Seinfeld where he got snow on his brand new suede jacket---it was ruined!
You should not do it - suede needs to be dry cleaned
You need to find a suede cleaning stone. They work very well. It is almost like an eraser for stains and spots on suede. Then buy a brush that was designed for suede and brush off. If odors are a problem leave the jacket hanging in a garage or car for a few days in a cold area. You could also consult your local cleaners for advice.

Why?? a little soap and hot water takes works just fine. If you are that worried just add 1tbsp of bleach per gallon of water.
Old English wood floor cleaner is now anti-bacterial.
I love Mr. Clean not only do the products work great, but they smell good too. Hope this helps you out.
brew 5 tea bags in 1 gallon of water. then add 1/2 cup of cider vinegar.

use a soft cloth or sponge. dip in the solution, wring it out well, and wipe down the floor. buff with a soft dry cloth afterward.

you don't want to use anything too harsh because it will ruin the finish and you will have to refinish the floors.

How do I clean a vinyl shower curtain without a washing machine?

Any tips on a good way to clean a vinyl shower curtain without using a washing machine? Can I soak it in the tub with something? Any help would be appreciated, thank you!How do I clean a vinyl shower curtain without a washing machine?
If this is just a cheapo shower curtain liner, just toss it and buy a new one. They only cost like $2. If this is a ';fancy'; one with a pattern or something, fill the tub with water and maybe a 1/4 bottle of bleach and let it soak for an hour. Then drain and rinse. Then buy a cheap, clear liner that can be throw away to keep the good curtain clean. How do I clean a vinyl shower curtain without a washing machine?
Bam and elbow grease. Would be much easier to get a new one. Try soaking it in vinegar and oxy clean first in the tub with a little hot water.
Soak it in the tub. If it's just dirty, use something like Dawn, but if it's moldy, add some bleach.
I take mine down, lay it flat on the floor and use some ';elbow grease';, which is an English term for a bit of physical work. If you use washing up liquid or soap powder, with water of course, you will find it cleans easily. Rinse it after, job done in 5 minutes or so.
spray it with a product like lime away, then rinse really well
Soak it in the tub with some bleach and detergent..
The easiest way that I have found is to spread it out on the deck floor, wet it, put a drop or two of liquid cleanser on it, and sponge mop it. Then I drape it across the deck rail in the sun for a few minutes. It dries nice, neat, and wrinkle free.

I know it sounds funny, but try a couple cans of coke a cola. Its true-Coke has so much acid in it that it is used often for tough grease stains!
Do a hot wash cycle, and add some vinegar and dish soap to the water.
Washing up liquid. Not too much else you will end up with a horrible foamy mess but I have had the same problem and I ran the hottest wash possible with a good squirt of fairy liquid in the drum. It cuts through grease in the same way it does on your dishes. Don't put your clothes in with it by the way!
Straight dish soap, or go to an appliance store for their suggestions.

How do you really clean the inside of your washing machine? I have a ring around the inside of it HELP!!!?

TIP: A small handful added to laundry does wonders to clean grease/oil stains and extra heavily soiled laundry. Also, if you are a cold-water wash user, it will keep ';ring'; from forming. white vinigar and Lime Away or CLR

I have cushion pillows w/cotton outside and no tag about inside contents. Can I wash them w/out dry cleaning?

I'd have them professionally dry cleaned. The problem with cotton, you don't know if it's preshrunk or not. If it's not preshrunk, and you take the insides out, after you've washed and dried the covers, they've shrunk, and the fillings won't fit anymore.I have cushion pillows w/cotton outside and no tag about inside contents. Can I wash them w/out dry cleaning?
If you're in doubt, you don't want to take the chance and wind up destroying them. With stuffed animals, they are surface clean only, so you may want to do the same with your cushions. The washing machine will destroy foam padding and take all of the body out of polyester batting.I have cushion pillows w/cotton outside and no tag about inside contents. Can I wash them w/out dry cleaning?
One thing you could do is to cut a slit in the cushion on a hidden edge and take out the stuffing or pillow form. Depending on what the material is made of, you can then wash them in the washer on gentle cycle with gentle detergent. Then hang dry or lay flat to be safe about it. Try to determine what the fabric is and whether it has any sizing on it. Sizing is the stiff feeling (like starch) that some manufacturers put on. A washing machine will take all of that off, so that your fabric will have a different but softer texture. When dry, simply put the insides back in and sew up the slit by hand.

Another thing you can do is to spot clean, which is a fancy way of saying to just take a clean damp rag and gently rub as much of the dirt off as you can. Once it dries, the dirt may be gone, but this isn't a sure cure.

    Either way, good luck!

I wash my hair but it doesn't feel clean..?

Every night I take a shower. But when I get out I never feel clean no matter what. Feeling clean makes my confidence boost but I never feel good. Help?I wash my hair but it doesn't feel clean..?
A couple of things could possibly be happening. Either you still have some product residue leftover on your hair or you just need a good clarifying shampoo. Want it to feel squeaky clean? Mix up a half cup of apple cider vinegar to 3 cups of water and just rinse it over your hair. Leave it on just for 2 or 3 minutes then rinse it out. No need for conditioner. Don't worry about the smell as that will quickly go away once your hair is dry. Feel free to google this for clarification.

What are the best products for cleaning a dog's ears? Is it necessary to use a wash and drying powder?

Is there a kit that includes everything? What are the best products for cleaning a dog's ears? Is it necessary to use a wash and drying powder?
You can get a commercial ear cleaning fluid like Otocleanse, use a little peroxide, or make your own. Avoid using alcohol unless vet recommended (say for swimmer's ear) because it can sting, and it can also over-dry the ear canal. My vet gave me a recipe using common household ingredients. You should ask your own vet what they recommend.

When you clean them, moisten a cotton ball with the fluid and insert the ball down into the ear. Close the ear and gently massage the base. You may hear squishy sounds like a washing machine. Open the ear up again and wipe the surfaces you can see with the same cotton ball. Be prepared for your dog to shake his head and sprinkle you.

NEVER insert a q-tip into a dog's ear. Not only do they tend to push the dirt further in, if your dog struggles or moves suddenly you can injure his ear drum. So just use a plain cotton ball.

I never use a drying powder, but consult your own vet on what they recommend.

I have some dirt and looks like algae or something on the bricks. I just purchased my home and I trying to upgrade the outside appearance.I want to pressure wash my house and I am wondering what is the best cleaner to use?
Pour 1 gallon of bleach in a 5 gallon bucket and then add 3 gallons of water...this will do it..run it through the pressure washer solvent tube..spray liberally on 1 side at a time..let set 10 minutes ..then pressure wash it off..No need for a special solvent bleach works fine..I am a 37 year experienced painter and have washed literally thousands of places with this method..I want to pressure wash my house and I am wondering what is the best cleaner to use?
Do not use high pressure on your bricks. If the bricks have a powder on them u will wash off. Only use it without the pressure. Bleach as stated above is fine thru the suction tube on PW if you try using a pressure tip will not suck. Let stand 20 min and use same tip to wash off. Repeat do not use high pressure tip.
I just did this to my home I used Grease Lightning..... I bought it at my local walmart for like 3.99 and 2 cups to one cup water in the washer it worked like a charm my home sparkles....
If you use a high water blaster such as a Karcher, you will not need any cleaners at all! it will remove mould and algae easily.

Should I put Bleach mixed with water to clean mold and mildew on the shower curtain in washing machine?

I worry about the mold will contaminate my wasing macine and colthes.Should I put Bleach mixed with water to clean mold and mildew on the shower curtain in washing machine?
Buy a new one. They're like $3.00. Cleaning the old one isn't worth it.Should I put Bleach mixed with water to clean mold and mildew on the shower curtain in washing machine?
I would recommend treating the shower curtain with dilute bleach, and scrubbing it with a brush to remove the majority of the mold and mildew.

Then launder it in the machine with detergent and a cup of bleach.

You shouldn't have any problems afterwards.
YOU should scrub the ';crap'; out of the shower curtain with a paste of baking soda and salt. Then place it into the washing machine and let it ';fill up.'; Do not wash the curtain right away, let it soak in the bleach for a while. Then you should turn the washing machine on and ';progress'; will be in order.

hi,i have so much clothes that need washing that have piled up and they are thrown everywhere,i was going to bring them all to the laundry mat so they could was and fold them for me,but is this hygenic?i know they recycle the water so is it best to avoid them, and can you catch anything from peoples previous clothes being in them?and they say they use cheap detergent so will more chemicals be in clothes from bringing them to the laundry? thanksHow clean is using a public laundry mat, when you are overwhelmed with washing to do?
You should be ok, go wash your clothes. Use good detergents and good judgment. I been going for years and I have not come across any problems. People are scared to do everything cause the media does silly research and people get nervous about everything. It is the easiest and most convenient way for you to clean your clothes at this point. Dont sweat the small stuffHow clean is using a public laundry mat, when you are overwhelmed with washing to do?
I have never heard they recycle the water (and I don't really believe it). Laundromats are always bring your own detergent, however. Some will sell you a bottle there, but they don't provide it for you.

If you go to a newer laundromat, they are usually cleaner. Also, just look around the place--if there are people running around cleaning the place up and helping people find the right machine to use, you are in a good place--if there is garbage everywhere and no one doing anything about it, you are in a bad place. The only scary thing I heard about laundromats was that there is a fairly high amount of baby poop in the washers from people washing diapers. I doubt it could hurt you (and you certainly can't see or smell it), so I don't worry about it.
First off regular laundry mats don't have servicemen or women so class this mat does have. And no you can't catch anything from previously used water because while it has been recycled it must be cleaned in the process so there goes that problem. As for the cheap detergent why don't you just ask them if they could use your detergent... have a set amount set aside when you ask them so they don't exhaust all of your detergent should you take all of the bottle up to them.
You worry too much. If there were all these dangers, would there be laundrymats all over the world? You have more of a chance having your laundry piled up at home to have some problem than you will by taking them to the laundrymat. They do not ';recycle'; water either.

Best to think about it, how many people that you know have died from ';laundrymat fear syndrome';?
    It depends where you go.

My mom takes our clothes to a wash and fold center.

They charge 85 cents per pound.

We usually have 80 lbs a week.

Umm i wouldn't do it yourself.

    That'd be embarassing.

My mom loves the way the clothes smell too.
I would never bring them to a laundry mat because the peoples clothes that were in them previously the germs and the chemicals from the clothes will get on to your clothes...
the machines are clean. It's the chair's, counters, building and people that can sometimes be NASTYYYY!
you arent going to catch anything contagious from us poor folk using the laudromats

    i promise
public laundries are not very clean. but you need to wash your clothes

    better than nothing

Is bar soap better or body wash/gel better for cleaning the private areas?

since the creation of the body wash gel, i never thought about going back to the bar of soap. why would anyone use that? isn't it disgusting. however my brother in law saws the bar soap is better for that area. Not sure what the difference is.Is bar soap better or body wash/gel better for cleaning the private areas?
Both work just as well. Body washes/gels are more sanitary because they are contained in a plastic bottle and not exposed to air or bacteria, and they aren't rubbed on your body picking up hair and dirt. They give you more of a spa life experience with aroma and more suds, and have things added to them that are good for your skin like aloe, vitamin 3, oatmeal, etc., they are easier to use and don't leave a ring in the tub. Bar soaps are now starting to add more of these benefits to their products to keep the competitive edge. I personally prefer gels/washes to mushy bar soaps. But as far as how well they clean, both work just as well. It's just a matter of preference. Is bar soap better or body wash/gel better for cleaning the private areas?
Neither has anything ';over'; the other, as long as you don't have an allergy to any of the ingredients in one or the other.
I personally like the liquid soaps better! I find that bar soaps leave a little residue on the skin that I find disgusting!!
Use what you want, bar or gel, it's YOUR 'private area' and you can wash it with what you find best, as often and as long as you want. he he

When cleaning up clay after using a pottery wheel- is it safe to wash clay down the drain?

I put the large chunks of clay in my slurry bucket, but what about the small bits that inevitably wash down the sink during cleanup? Is this a problem? Could it clog my drain? Is there a special filter for clay only? I have a small shop sink in my studio that I use. When cleaning up clay after using a pottery wheel- is it safe to wash clay down the drain?
If you can make a receptable for your sink.

It is basically a big bowl of water with a drain near the top.

Your clay, and all the other solids will sink, the chemicals will rise to the top of the water where they can evaporate, (if you use oil-based paints they will float on the top of the water for you to clean away.)

There should be plans on the web.

Clay will clog your drain, and a filter will not work, as the clay particles are too small.

    Added:

I was trying to find the link of that post by meeny mo, this is what I found, would work too:

    http://www.purifier.com.np/

But you would have to clean out the upper bucket after each use, to prevent it getting clogged. When cleaning up clay after using a pottery wheel- is it safe to wash clay down the drain?
no throw it in the trash
    go to www.silverceramics.com

Further in the article they show how to make a particulate filter out of pottery. Maybe you could make that instead of clogging up your sink.
No, it's not a good idea to just wash it down the sink. It's better to save it up if you plan to use it any further. I suggest to put it in a plastic bag covered by a moist piece of paper. If not then just place it in a plastic bag and just throw it in your garbage.

What happens if you regularly wash something that's suppose to be dry cleaned only?

Does it like get destroyed or something? What happens if you regularly wash something that's suppose to be dry cleaned only?
It depends on what it is. Stuff like wool can shrink and lose its shape while some rayon or acetate will never be the same and can really fall apart. If you decide to risk it be aware that it could be ruined or it could be fine. Wash on Cold to reduce shrinkage and gentle cycle and then lay flat to dry or on a mannequin. What happens if you regularly wash something that's suppose to be dry cleaned only?
There are some garments that you can get away with washing in the washing machine. There are some that you cannot; wool, leather, suede, and other garments made from the hide of an animal all have to be dry cleaned. Also satin and silk I would recommend getting dry cleaned.

And if they have lining in them, they DEFINITELY need to be dry cleaned because the lining can shrink or the outer layer of wool or acrylic could shrink, and one would end up shorter than the other.

But if it's made with cotton, polyester, rayon, etc. it should be all right to wash it.

Like sweetpea said; if it hasn't ruined it by now it should be okay.
If it hasn't ruined it already, I wouldn't worry about it.
More than likely the garment will be destroyed, yes.

  • What is a good way to clean jogging shoes? Can they be machine washed?

of yes, you can machine wash them. i do that oftenWhat is a good way to clean jogging shoes? Can they be machine washed?
yes also scrub laces with washing up liquid before you put them inWhat is a good way to clean jogging shoes? Can they be machine washed?
Yes, I throw mine in the wash. You might want to remove the laces because they can get all twisted. Also, I let mine air dry on the patio... ( Texas, usually pretty warm year round here)..... because I don't think the dryer heat would be good for them. I guess a low setting might be okay.
    let your dog lick them

look for something called goo gone at your local pharmacy or building store it works on everything great stuff and not expensive at all
Put some dish detergent on them (enough to soak the sticker through). Let it sit for a half hour or so. It should come right off. Of course, you'll have to rinse the area well.
Rubbing alcohol! It works like a charm and it dissolves all residue too!
    Use vegetable oil
GooGone is a good place to start.
Mr. Clean Magic Erasers and it isn't a chemical.

How can you clean the downy ring out of the inside of the washing machine?

I have a great washing machine, and we use downy with every load (we can't use the other kind of fabric softener because I am allergic and so is my 9 month old baby!) Anyway, it has started to make a ring of green glop on the outside of the washing basket and it is pretty nasty. I have tried scrubbing at it with a towel as I put it into the machine, but that doesn't help. Any other ideas? How can you clean the downy ring out of the inside of the washing machine?
Wash a full cycle, no clothes inside, with high water level, with 2 litres of white vinegar, any cheap brand will do. This will clean your washing machine interior, as well as the pipes. Have you considered using white vinegar instead of fabric softener? It would keep your machine clean, clothes won't fade, no skin irritation. How can you clean the downy ring out of the inside of the washing machine?
Does your washer have a clean me cycle like after 100 washes (nice feature) if not use vinegar on a rag and get scrubbing.
Spray it with a mixture of HOT water and white vinegar(75/25)and scrub with a microfiber cloth.

How do you clean the fabric softener dispenser of a Sears top loading washing machine?

The fabric softener stays in the dispenser, which is attached to the agitator, instead of getting into the tub with the clothes during the rinse cycle. I think the dispenser may be clogged. How do you clean the fabric softener dispenser of a Sears top loading washing machine?
Slowly run a bit of HOT water thru it ~ use your kettle %26amp; stand back to avoid the splash %26amp; it should melt away what is stuck behind. How do you clean the fabric softener dispenser of a Sears top loading washing machine?
The dispenser should be able to be removed. Some are dishwater safe (not all). Wash in your sink with a floor cleaner like Pine Sol or Spc N Span and hot water %26amp; brush, rag, old toothbrush, etc...

Is there a way to clean this white shirt: have been washed with black clothes changed colour?

I got a white T-shirt i really like that someone have washed for me and they made the mistake of washing it with Another dark piece of clothing (I think it was new black socks) and now my white shirt has some ''black spots'' on it. How can make them disappear? and Also, do they do that to the cleaner store ?Is there a way to clean this white shirt: have been washed with black clothes changed colour?
rit dye sells a product called color remover that's specifically for that problem follow the instructions and your white shirt will once again be white with no damage. Is there a way to clean this white shirt: have been washed with black clothes changed colour?
There is 2 solutions that I know of. 1--you can go out and buy white dye and redye the T-shirt white. 2--you could try washing it by its self in the washer/small load/ with maybe 1/4 cup of bleach or a little less. Do not add more then that because to much bleach will turn your T-shirt yellow. Do Not dry in dryer. Let air dry until you are sure all of the stain is gone. Once the shirt is dried in dryer the stain is pretty much set. Good Luck!!

Do humans really need all these products to stay clean (Shampoo, Soap, Body wash, Moisturizers)?

What I am trying to ask is I feel as a dry skin type person that always has dry hair and skin. Do we really need to use soap and all that stuff at the store. If I use warm hot water I feel that already does the job or atleast use soap and stuff when I know I need it. I just feel like it through the bodies ph balance out of wack. I mean if you wash a dog everyday with soap that would effect their skin greatly. Humans back in the day never had all this stuff to clean. I know its sounds gross to some asking this but think realistically with me for a second. Are ph balance wasn't ment to know that humans were to create shampoo.Do humans really need all these products to stay clean (Shampoo, Soap, Body wash, Moisturizers)?
Well, moisturizers don't keep you clean. But no of course not all of those products are a necessity or should be used everyday. Not everyone has the same reaction to soaps and shampoos. Some people need it everyday, others don't. Humans back in the day never had a lot of stuff. It doesn't mean the products aren't helpful.

If you're super dry, then you need to figure out if you're washing too much or not washing enough. Trial and error.Do humans really need all these products to stay clean (Shampoo, Soap, Body wash, Moisturizers)?
1] I also have dry skin, so I use a moisturizing, sensitive skin cleanser for face/body.

2] most of us should bathe daily; some can get away with every other day.

3] ';years ago'; everyonehad dandruff, hair and body lice, and all dif kinds of skin infections [ scabies, fungus, boils, etc. - ICK! ]
well assuming we have the same genetics as ';humans back in the day';, we don't need much. And in a way using all these products might be keeping us TOO clean to where our immune system becomes fragile from lack of exercise.
I'd say a bar of soap, face wash, shampoo, and moisturizer is all you really need.

%26amp; deodorant.. In your case, lol.
If you like little No see ems Bugs crawling around on you then I guess it's O.K. I start itching after a day dont like it.
you need it if you want to smell good %26amp; be clean
Not really. I mean, people should shower daily and stuff, but I know to keep my skin at a regular oil level, I only use soap every other day for my body, and I wash my hair with shampoo every two to four days. I always wash my hands and face though. But yeah, I know where you're coming from. I have really dry skin for the most part. (Face is the exception) I just have to adjust everything to it. So I take cooler showers and use less harsh soaps on my skin. Light moisturizers help for that day after using bar soaps and stuff that dry your skin. It really makes a difference. And then I wash less often and let the good, natural oils help my skin for a day or two then wash off the impurities.
You're right to go by what your body tells you. Not only is everyone's skin different, but our skin changes over time. My skin used to be so oily that washing 3 times a day was a necessity. Now, less that 5 years later, washing only once a day leaves my skin dry and flaky for hours.

If your dry skin is like mine, then it's probably sensitive to many soaps and body washes. Most moisturizers also tend to make my skin breakout. My solution is to wash with hot water daily, but briefly to avoid excessive drying, and to use a gentle facial soap once or twice a week depending on my skin's dryness.

Over-washing can be just as bad as under-washing, so keep listening to your body. It generally gives the best advice.
Don't know if this will really answer your question..

But it's actually safer the less we shower.. You see what happens is that the more and more we shower the more you wash off good bacteria that lives on your skin and also not so good bacteria that your body can become immune to, meaning those who shower more are more likely to get sick than those who shower less.

So are those things needed to be clean, I don't think so, maybe smell good... Unless you are filled with dirt

A study was done suggesting that showering once a week was enough

    http://www.health24.com/news/Bacterial_d鈥?/a>

I personally don't think I can go once a week, but hey if it's better for my health and I'm not dirty why not skip the soap one day? The Europeans do it =)

  • My washing machine smells like mildew inside. How can I clean it?

Every time I open the lid to my washing machine it smells like mildew. It seems like the smell it getting stronger. shoiuld I call the repair service or is there something I can use to clean it myself? My washing machine smells like mildew inside. How can I clean it?
I used to work for whirlpool and here is the answer we always gave. Fill your washer with HOT water, when the machine stops filling it will be below the ';lip'; in your washer. (the lip being BELOW the rounded plastic at the top of the wash basin) you need to dump hot water into your wash machine until it is over the lip but is still below the hard rounded plastic.

then dump ONE cup of bleach into the washer and set your washer for the longest wash cycle possible and let it ';wash'; for about 5 to 10 minutes. after it has ';washed'; for 5 to 10 minutes push the selector knob (the knob you use to choose your wash cycle) in to stop the cycle and let your washer sit for a about 45 minutes and then pull your selector knob out to let you washer was again for another 5-10 minutes. you will begin to see black stuff and bits of hair and lint floating in the water... this is a VERY good thing!

After it has washed for 5-10 minutes push the knob back in to stop the cycle and let your washer sit for a few hours... preferably over night. In the morning pull the knob out and let the washer complete the remainder of the cycle and it will smell no more!!! I hope this helps good luck!My washing machine smells like mildew inside. How can I clean it?
Running a load of rags or something with some bleach would get rid of the smell, but to keep it away leave the lid open when you're not using it.Also, make sure you are using sufficient laundry soap/detergent for the laundry! I've had my washer for 24 years, done diapers and all kinds of laundry in it, %26amp; never use bleach. There is no smell when the lid is left open between uses. And there usually is a smell if someone leaves it closed, and the next load of laundry clears it out. I've never even run a load of rags with bleach.
Run an empty short cycle with hot water, a little bleach and a little pine sol or similar cleanser, it will help kill the smell, I do it all the time. I also spray a mildew remover like Tilex or something in the tub once a month or so, let it set a bit, then wash a small load of old towels or rags before washing good stuff. My washer has a filter assembly down at the bottom too, hubby removes the cover and we wash the filter real good - it can start smelling too. Good luck!
You could try to run your machine on the hot setting, add a cup of bleach. Then run one more but add a cup of vinegar, it should clean everything out really good! It's probably the cheapest way too!
Run your machine through a cycle with a cup of bleach. Then every time after you've done a load, leave the lid up so the washer can dry. There usually is water left in the bottom under the tub even after the cycle is done.
Run an empty cycle with a gallon of white vinegar and then follow with an empty cycle with just water. When your washer isn't in use leave the lid up. I learned years ago that doing so keeps the washer from smelling, because it has a chance to dry.
pour a good amount of baking soda and vinegar in it and run it through a cycle. use warm water. if everything else fails then you need to take it apart. there might be an article of clothing stuck in there somewhere that is smelling!! good luck!!!
Run a cycle w/bleach in the water. I keep my washer lid open for a couple hours after using it to make sure it dries out inside and have never had a musty/mildewy odor in mine.
Try putting some bleach in the soap dispenser and running the washing mashine without clothes in it. That may or may not clean it. If not, call the service.
Try running a load or two of just old rags or towels that you don't care about with bleach. Use double the regular recommended about of bleach. This should kill any mold or bacteria growing in there.
START YOUR WASHING MACHINE LET IT FEEL UP WITH WATER THEN POUR BLEACH IN IT LET IT SET FOR A WHILE THEN TURN IT ON AND LET IT FINISH

THIS SHOULD WORK AND GET THE SMELL OUT

RE PEAT IF NEED TO BUT THIS SHOULD WORK
Use a packet of bi-carb soda and 1ltre of vinegar, run it through a hot cycle.I do this monthly to keep it fresh and clean.
i wounld say leave the door of it open for a while to air it out of store baking soda in it while you arent using it? just a guess?
Run an empy cycle with bleach then leave the lid open to air out the machine always leave lid open when not in use it prevents mildew and mold
try running a strong solution of vinegar through it
    try bleach or white vinegar.
well you could spart Ferbrezze in it that always works for me .

What can I use to clean my daughter's stinky running shoes without washing them?

I forbade her from wearing the olifactory offensive footwear only on the condition that they not be put through the washer. So, I gave her some story about using ';the dry method';.

ThanksWhat can I use to clean my daughter's stinky running shoes without washing them?
Buy a can of Tinactin. It's a foot powder in a spray %26amp; it gives the inside of the most funky smelling shoes, a nice smell. What can I use to clean my daughter's stinky running shoes without washing them?
To clean the outside, try some 409, Windex, soapy water (I like Dawn) or other such product and a tooth brush on the soft surfaces. On the rubbery parts, try a Mr. Clean Magic Eraser. They're amazing. They work fast and well. For the insides, sprinkle baking soda or Borax all inside the shoe and let set overnight. The next day, take them outside and smack the soles together to get rid of loose powder. Have your daughter wash her feet more often and make sure she doesn't re-wear dirty socks. There are even (expensive) socks now that have silver fibers woven into them. The silver is a natural antimicrobial agent and rids the stinky foot smell.
I just had to pack my pair of sandals in baking soda to remove the stink. I left them for 48 hours. Running shoes can receive the same treatment.....brushing out will be tougher, but from now on she'll need to use foot powder or sprays.

Why not wash them?? Even scrubbing them at the sink with a brush and soapy water and drying in sunshine is fine.

I highly suggest getting new insoles whatever you do. Those old ones get skanky.
Kiwi fresh force shoe refreshener. Also baking soda but it discolors so quickly. But Kiwi is very effective-I go to the gym I do not like what happens to my very expensive sneakers go to an upper class shoe store they should have it, Kiwi saved me from embarrassment and shame.
you can get spray in shoe deoderisers

or just get her a new pair

make sure she always wear socks as that reduces the smell too (once you get the smell out)
I haven't tried it myself but apparently sprinkling bicarbonate of soda inside shoes can eradicate bad smells, could be worth a try?
dr. scholls powder, it's in a yellow and blue bottle. i use it in my sons shoes, it works great

Why do we wash bath towels? Aren't we clean when we use them?

I'm guilty I do the same thing..but whyWhy do we wash bath towels? Aren't we clean when we use them?
Hi.........When we use them they linger around and germs attach to them and build up which can cause mildew because of the water and the air, so in point we have to wash them on a scheduled basis. Why do we wash bath towels? Aren't we clean when we use them?
I use them to mop up the puddles on the floor after I'm done.
hey...I*ve always wondered the same thing!!!
they still get dirty, musty and moldy, so wash them stinking things.
    Wtf?
    to kill germs
Its that but*t matter thing yanno....

Just the SLIGHTEST of chances some er...umm... uhh.. '; debris'; gets into the towel.....I think you know where I'm going with this one,....
    lol

    your funny!!
    haha good question !

but its prolly cause the towel touches the genital area
Well... for one, would you like to use a towel that you KNOW has been used by another without having been washed?

Even though we are using them to dry ourselves after a shower/bath, our skin is still ';sloughing off'; dead skin cells. The towel is assisting in the wiping off of these cells. The towels need to be washed to get rid of those cells before we use them again, or hand the towel to another person to use!

Everyone is entitled to my opinion.
the build up of water and moisture on them can create mildew
because we throw them on the floor after we are done drying off
    just because, now stop it!
the build up of water and moisture on them can create mildew
Well if you need someone to explain this too you I guess I will! All that dirt that is on your body is wiped off with the bath towel and the water that is removed has dead skin cells, dirt in solution (in the water droplets), loose hair, assorted body fluids, etc. There is even some of the fragrances of the soap, shampoo, conditioner, and other things you use in the shower.

At what age should we teach our children to clean their room and wash the dishes and such???

My husband makes me feel bad becuase I want to train my two daughters to clean up after themselves and to wash the dishes. My mom made us do that stuff when we were little. Especially me. My brother had outside chores and sometimes, it didn't matter who did what as long as it got done. But my husbands mother did everything. EVERYTHING. They didn't have to do nothing (but cut grass) and so he thinks she is to young to do chores. She is 8 going on 12 and on my nerves. My soon to be 4 yr.old will do what she does. I am aggrevated cause he won't help me to enforce the rule. In fact, when it comes to the girls, there is no set bed time or restriction on t.v. I would send them out to play with the neigbor's kids that live in our building but he wants me outside looking at them. I understand the security, but they play in a group of kids for GOD'S SAKE. Is this more of a controlling issue or does he really not know that mothers have to train their children to do chores. At what age should we teach our children to clean their room and wash the dishes and such???
from the time my kids could walk I'd give them a rag and they'd follow me around wiping off stuff while I was cleaning. It's not good for kids to have no responsibility. My mother in law was the same way and I went on strike for a week and let him fend for himself. I believe that since Im a stay at home mom that most of the chores are mine, but it dsn't hurt for him or the kids to pick up either. It makes it nice for youAt what age should we teach our children to clean their room and wash the dishes and such???
I make sure my 3 and a half year old son and my 2 year old daughter pick up their toys after they're done playing. I teach them to throw away their trash, and bring their dishes to the sink. Obviously they cant lift a huge trash bag or do the dishes, but it never hurts to get it instilled at a young age to pick up after yourself.
He probably doent care because he doesnt do anything either im assumming. It doesnt hurt to teach them things novv. My son is 4 and I have him clean his room, if he's old enough to drag everything out and make a mess then he's old enough to pick it up too. It just teaches them responsibilty and to keep there room clean.
well, in my opinion, i think you should teach them to clean up after themselves for certain thing from moment they are able to stand up and walk on their own. but as far as washing dishes, teach them when they are able to see over the sink. i don't think this is a control issue, you just want your kids to grow to be responsible people, which i think is a good thing.
I agree that u need to start from age 1,having them help pick up their toys.If u dont make them do it,u are going to have lazy spoiled little brats that think everything will be handed to them. They will have a crappy attitude.I know,I have 4 of the laziest kids going.Thats why I am starting early with my 1 yr old...
Its never too young to instill the importance of helping out. My daughter is 1 and loves to do things to help. She takes her dirty diaper to the trash, she puts her dirty clothes in the hamper. She helps pick up her toys when its time to clean up. She feels like a big girl, not to mention its completely adorable to see her sweet smile when she gets praise for doing good.
I started teaching my kids as soon as they were ols enought to understand instructions. My son is now 5 and hates to tidy up but we have now introduced a reward chart and if he gets enough ticks at the end of the week he gets a nice treat. It works great and ive got a relativly tidy house
your husben is trying to do things like when he was a kid when women had no rights. your daghter should have to do somethings around the house but remember shes just a kid.Cleaning your room, you should have made her do that a long time agoand for your son now would be the age to start helping you do things!!!
Teaching your girls to clean up after themselves will teach them to be responcible, start teaching them both to, they are both old enough. I'm sorry about your husband, he doesn't sound very supportive, and that makes a big difference. Good Luck!
As soon as they can move to get to the toy box they can learn to clean up after themselves. By age 8 there should be some serious contributing to the family going on. I would say if dad doesn't want them to clean let him do it.
i had to pick up my things from a very early stage, like 3 or so but im sure my mum taught me before that.

you need to sit down with your husband and you guys need to agree on something otherwise your kids will get mixed messages. did his mum work? i doubt it...
In Mexico, the mother does all the work, and the girls in the family start helping out as soon as they can walk.
Umm yea you should teach them to clean the room at around 1-2 yrs old..and my 6 yr old and 4 yr old daughter washes dishes...And you just have to make sure they are well cleaned..they do good tho
Heck do it now, they get to be teenagers it is like they forgot what planet they were born on!

Hubby a mamas boy? Oh oh......
you start teaching them to clean up after themselves when they are old enough to get their own toys out.
AT 7 YEARS OLD BECAUSE TILL THIRD STANDARD THEY WILL BE AS A KID SO WE MUST TEACH THEM TO CLEAN THE ROOM AT 8TH YEAR OLD
    now!!
From the time my kids were old enough to walk and drag the toys out they have been taught to put them back where they got them from. When they turned about 4 then they started ';making'; their beds and cleaning their rooms. I didnt redo it when they made it wrong instead helped them to learn to make it right. They have also always helped me load the dishwasher etc, get their clothes in the hamper, put up clothes etc. Part of being a family is helping out. If you all chip in on the work then there is more time for the fun things they want to do and it teaches them some responsibility. When I was growing up we had a housekeeper and I never did anything and it showed when I moved out on my own I swore then my kids would know how to clean up after themselves. My husband like yours thinks that because I was home all day that I should do it until I got sick and he had to do it and then he backed me up. Make it fun for the kids to help. Give each one a task such as vacuming or putting away the dishes and then see who can do their job fastest and right. My kids are now 15, 11 and 8 and they know to make their bed in the morning, place their dirty dishes in the dishwasher, how to operate the washer and dryer etc. It hasnt hurt them in the least.
my kids 4 2 and 1 all are made to pick up there toys after playing if not whatever is on the floor gets taken away for a few days. my oldest is made to help wash the table and he actually enjoys washing his and younger siblings dishes (i pre wash them and then stand near by to ensure theres no mess but he gets the idea that things need to be tidy for us all to live happy and healthy..

i think your hubby needs to stop treating your girls like royalty and teach them some much important life skills.
My boys are 10-7yrs old and they have a schedule and do dishes every night alternating who does dishes by the day... they also do the garbage and make their beds and pick up their toys... they are rewarded like tonight after dinner they are going to a gaming center for 2 hours of video gaming as part of their monthly entertainment... kids need to learn responsiblity and this is a good way to teach them,... tell hubby to lighten up and either he helps u or they do but the choice is his...
I guess it depends on you as parents. You and your husband need to agree on an age though. You both need to enforce this for it to work.

I think I will encourage my child to clean at a very early age just so that when I do want them to do their chores, they will not be so shocked and lazy about it.

I was a kid that did NOTHING around the house. But unlike your husband, I want my kids to do chores...

If you don't teach them now though, they may just grow up to be messy people and i'm sure you don't want that?
i think the 8 year old can doany chore you wish to give her and i think the 4 year old can help with laundry like folding and such and cleaning up toys...like my 19 month old helps me he helps pick up his toys and he will put wet clothes that i pass to him into the dryer and he will pick up dirty clothes out of the hamper and put them into the washer with my help and supervision of course
the 8 year old can help around the house i have my oldest step son 9yrs old help take out trash dishes pick up his room and put away his own landry that gose also with me youngest step son 7 he put his own clothes away and also he picks up the living room and help his older brother with their bed room and he will help me in the kitchen my daughter 2 in june i help her pick her room up and she will put her pulup in the trash i ask of real small things of her but if their old enough to go hang out with friends and such they can help around the house
Not sure about the method to his madness but 8 and up is definatley a great time to get your kids in on chores and responcibility.

Set routines, rules, and guidelines in your home. Children want and need this. It makes them understand what they can do and what the day will be like.

Let your child help with challenging tasks. Encourage your child to try to perform new tasks and to face new challenges. By doing so, you will certainly boost your child鈥檚 sense of competence.

Encourage your child to make decisions. Begin encouraging decision-making while your child is young. At first, choices should be kept simple, like allowing your child to choose from two outfits which one to wear. As your child ages, encourage her to make more complex decisions. Your child will learn to make good choices by being given choices. This would be what you would want to start doing with your 4 year old. The younger, the better.

Giving your child chores she can handle is a good way to build self-confidence and responsibility in your child. Let them set the table, water plants or flowers, bring clothes to the washer, or picking up their toys. They will be stubborn at first but they will help you more and more. As your child matures, consider additional ways your child can contribute to the household. Doing chores is a useful way to learn persistence and to learn that when we live up to our responsibilities we enable others to trust and rely on us.

Teaching your children to accept responsibility for their actions is one of the greatest gifts you can give them. You only have so many years while they are under your roof.
well do it now or you will be doing it forever. And I have my kids clean up and it is not about helping me but its about responsibilites. And if I am going to buy my 12 year old 200 Ipods and video games and cd's she better do something to earn them and My son is 4 and he cleans up after himself. Right now he does it because he likes to help mom but I am pretty sure that will end soon. Good luck and if your husband does not want the kids to do chores let him do them
Well, now is a good time for you to teach them to do some chores, you can make a chart with the days and the chores each child needs to do, for example you can teach them that everytime they wake up they have to make their beds as soon as they put one foot on the floor, and show them how to make them, you can ask the 4 year old to set the table and the 8 year old to pick them up after everybody has finished eating, and before they go to bed you can make them put away the toys and whatever is on the floor of their room. That will be a good start. Don't give them a lot of things at once, since they will feel is too much, you can start with two assignments and then go from there.

***with ';playing outside with their friends';, 8 and 4 year old are still way too young to be outside without supervision, I completely agree with your husband, no matter how many kids are playing, it is your (and your husband's) responsability to watch over them. ***
It's going to be hard because he was ';raised'; that way, so that is all he knows and something he is comfortable doing. I am sure in the back of your head your thinking ';I want my children to be able to clean up after themselves once they grow-up and move out.'; I would have them help you as you clean up - like ';help mommy clean up your bed';. ';Let's pick up the toys'; ';You dry and I will wash';. This way they are learning the skills and its not like is ';chores'; its helping mommy.

Solutions are always hard when you deal with different backgrounds.

    Good Luck!!

OH- I plan to implement chores as soon as my daugther can recognize where things ';go';. I'll start with clean up your toys, and slide into ';chores'; probably around the age of 7 or 8 - they will be age appropriate.
Well the first couple of sentence explains why your husband is the way he is...because mommy did everything for him...I think that every child should be learning to take care of themselves as early as possbile..It's not like what you are teaching them isn't for their own good. It teaches them to take care of themselves as they get grown. Question...didn't you and hubby discuss this before you got married..LOL..best of luck ..your hubby is wrong!
As soon as they are able to walk they can help out. Young kids actually like doing work like things. Get the 4y/o a small broom and dust pan, the 8y/o her own clean up basket with towels, duster, windex..etc.

My kids helped with the dishes at 5. just be sure to remove all knives and special glassware. I put mine on chairs or steps to reach the sink. Just don't expect it to be done perfectly, but praise their efforts.

    You'll have to talk with hubby...let him know you're not trying to get out of work....just instilling good habits in the girls.';train up a child in the way he should go...';

The bedtime and tv restrictions is for their physical and mental health...if he's a reader you might have to pull some articles that support what you are trying to do and ask him what he thinks about it after reading it.

Surely he doesn't want his girls to grow up always dependent on someone else. Our jobs as parents is to always move them towards independence.
