Why do we wash bath towels - aren't we clean when we use them?

GOOOOOD question. But I guess there is enough residual skin being sloughed off to build up a little bit of a microscopic mess. I personally advocate using the towel a wee bit longer than my more fussy spouse. I am particularly amused by the towel for sale in some mail order catalogs that has the words ';face'; on one end and ';butt'; on the other. I think that would help extend the life of the towel quite a bit longer. Why do we wash bath towels - aren't we clean when we use them?
yeah but our towels aren't. plus if we're just out of the shower, our pores are open. so if there's dirt on the towel, then it can get back into your pores. Why do we wash bath towels - aren't we clean when we use them?
Have you ever looked at a bath towel or a hand towel after its been used for a couple of days?

We may be clean when we use em but water can leave marks - especially on lite colored towels.
Some people don't .. they like wipe three week old butt crust, mold, fungus and other moisture loving bacteria all over their faces and body when they dry off .. :)

Umm No .. I am not one of them .. (points to the ex)
Some don't wash it for weeks and others wash it after they smell bad already. lol

All things become dirty, even men. Like those dirty old men.

just kidding
cuz after it gets wet, even if it air dries, after a couple times, it starts to stink
laughing
We're mostly clean, but not totally sterile... Would you want to use a used towel from someone else? Enough said.
We never wash all the bacteria off our bodies no matter how much we scrub. The bacteria gets on the towels as we dry off. It starts to grow in the moist air and smell. The moisture also helps to set the stage for mold to grow on it to.
Its about the dead skin cells you rub off after your shower. They accumulate and become disgusting.
Yes, we are clean when we use them, but clean is a relative statement. When you use a towel, you rub even more mass off of your body. Combined with the water, your wasted body mass will begin to stink.
Yes we are but when you leave it hanging there after you get out of the shower.Fungus gets attracted to the constant moisture from the towel. So thats why we wash it.Think about it.Too many bugs/germs get attracted to that ****.
Yes but water and air don't mix. Actually they do, and it's what they mix with is what we want to wash.
because they get smelly
yes, but the humidity makes it smelly lol so thats why they have to be washed
All that moisture on the towel could turn into mildew over time and I don't think you'd want to use that towel to clean yourself.
I've never really understood it either, but after they are wet and dry after so many times they do tend to get a stale smell.
i dont know... weird.
because the damp towels are partial to mildew and bacteria
When we dry ourselves with a towel after a bath, we rub off millions of dead skin cells.
eeeew.

You shed dead skin cells and bacteria onto those towels, and that can build up real fast.
