Can I just use a Shellac Primer over smoke damaged walls and ceilings without cleaning/washing them first?

smoke damage has sat on the walls and ceiling since 2004 and there is no longer any odor in the house either. Can I just use a Shellac Primer over smoke damaged walls and ceilings without cleaning/washing them first?
Nope, sorry, but you have to wash it first. Use TSP, a detergent you'll find it in the paint section. Large sponges help. When painting...do the prep work! Can I just use a Shellac Primer over smoke damaged walls and ceilings without cleaning/washing them first?
no way jose, clean first, it will save you heart ache, use a detergent 1st. and then wipe down with a cloth soaked with white vinegar.
