Is it better to dye your hair when you hair is clean or on hair that hasnt been washed for a few days?

Someone told me that it was better to dye your hair on hair that hadn't been washed for a few days as the colour will take better. Is this true or is it complete cr*p??Is it better to dye your hair when you hair is clean or on hair that hasnt been washed for a few days?
This has worked out the best for me.

Wash your hair out, and put very little or no styling product into the hair, then just brush or put up the hair however you like for a few days.

It's not so much the products that are in your hair as the natural repairing-oils from your scalp.

Also, if you dye your hair right after you wash it, your scalp will burn and tinge more than if you had left it alone, and I'm not sure if it can actually happen, but my mom claims she actually got a blister on her scalp once.

So, I advise you, don't dye your hair right after washing. :)Is it better to dye your hair when you hair is clean or on hair that hasnt been washed for a few days?
This is true, clean hair will not hold in the dye as well because shampoo puts a protective coat on our hair. Leaflets in hair dye packets do also advise not to put dye on clean hair, for best results leave it for about 3 days if you can. Good luck!
Well, when I worked in a hairdressers we never advised on either, so long as the hair is dry, that's all we were concerned with. some people had washed their hair that day, some had done it the day before
It's true, hair dye takes better on dirty hair, like 2 days, it doesn't have to be super dirty. When it's clean it's almost like the dye has nothing to stick to. The hairdressers would tell you the same :)
its true, if your hair hasnt been washed for a few days the colour takes better, but the natural oils also protect the hair from the harsh chemicals
Most home dyes say use on dry unwashed hair.
it is true.
